Round 6 VNSL Match Report: London Pulse Dull the Stars

Starting 7 today Liv, Kira, Ash, Ellie, Zara, Funmi, Lindsay

 Q1

London Pulse were highly clinical in the first ten minutes of the contest. Short quick passes and complete squad defence were incredibly efficient for the side; as a result, Severn Stars modified their whole defensive end, which benefited Stars. The London Pulse attack was put under pressure as a result of this change, and the momentum shifted, narrowing the margin from 7 to 4. The Score at the end of the first quarter was 12-8

 Q2

There were no changes from either side going into Quarter 2, but London Pulse regrouped and kicked off the quarter with a bang. Every player stood out and executed their roles effectively, and you could see the hunger in their eyes. During this quarter, London Pulse never allowed Severn Stars to settle. Lindsay Keable got a huge tip of the shot in the middle of the quarter, and Funmi Fadoju backed her up in attack. The second quarter score was 28-17.

 Q3

Zara Everett’s shoulder injury forced her to leave the court, and Ellie Rattu came on at WD. Alicia Scholes, Tayla Honey, and Sacha McDonald joined the game to add some spice.

Severn Stars explored several combinations in order to figure out how to defeat this fresh, vibrant London Pulse side. Another substitution for Pulse was Jasmin at GD, who came into the game with a lot of energy and put the Severn Stars GA under tremendous pressure on the shot, leading to a stupendous rebound by Fadoju. In attack, Scholes’ speed and McDonald’s rapid change of direction sent the Severn Stars defence flying.

Score 46-30 in the third quarter.

Q4

Berri Neil entered the game at GS and sank her first shot of the game with ease. The whole London pulse bench was used in the game – demonstrating the depth and faith in this group.

Slick play by London Pulse in the eighth minute, brought the ball through court fast and injected some flair into the contest. It was clearly a delight for the audience.

Funmi and Lindsay in the defensive circle were unstoppable in the fourth quarter, picking up tips and interceptions left, right, and centre. Despite the fact that Pulse had expanded the margin, they kept pressing and punishing- 7 on attack, 7 on defence.

Final score was 64-35
