The Emerging Netballer Programme
The Emerging Netballer Programme (ENP) is London Pulse's official early-stage development programme for athletes aged U11–U15. It supports motivated young players with high-quality, Pulse-led coaching closer to home, regular age-appropriate match play, and clarity around development and progression — working alongside club and county provision to support long-term athlete development within the wider London Pulse performance academy pathway.
Match Play Festivals
Every 5 weeks, ENP athletes attend a Pulse Match Play Festival — a key feature of the programme.
What does a festival look like?
- Age-appropriate competition
- 2–3 short matches per festival
- Rolling substitutions
- A supportive, development-focused environment
Why festivals (not leagues)?
- Regular competitive exposure without league pressure
- Focus on applying learning from training
- Opportunity for coaches to observe players in game contexts
Programme Information
The Emerging Netballer Programme (ENP) is London Pulse's official early-stage development programme for athletes aged U11–U15. The ENP is designed to:
- Support motivated young players who want to develop their netball
- Provide high-quality Pulse-led coaching closer to home
- Offer regular, age-appropriate match play opportunities
- Give families clarity around development and progression
The ENP does not replace club netball. It is designed to work alongside club and county provision and support long-term athlete development.
Where is the ENP delivered?
ENP sessions are delivered across a network of local venues to ensure accessibility while maintaining Pulse standards — a full list will be provided in due course. Venues are grouped into regional clusters, which come together every 5 weeks for match play festivals, helping reduce travel demands while maintaining a connected programme structure.
Important Information for U15 Athletes
U15 Franchise Pathway Changes (England Netball)
England Netball has introduced important changes affecting how U15 athletes enter Franchise pathways.
What's changed?
- County First: U15 athletes must apply through their County Programme, not directly to a Franchise
- County Affiliation: Athletes must be part of a County Programme linked to London Pulse
- Exceptional Entry only: Franchise selection is limited and evidence-based
What does this mean?
Being part of the ENP supports development and readiness, helps athletes build strong foundations, and provides clarity and guidance during a changing pathway landscape.
However, the ENP does not replace the County requirement. Athletes may be part of both ENP and County programmes.
London Pulse Designated Counties
To be eligible for future London Pulse performance Academy consideration at the U15 level, athletes must be in a County Programme linked to Pulse, including:
Athletes outside these areas will be guided toward the appropriate Franchise linked to their County.
